We are constantly getting mail delivered to us for other people.

On one posting we had four letters that were not for us

- one for next door neighbour,

another two addresses about a mile away from us

- all correctly addressed and completely different from ours.

Another to an address about 10 miles away - different name, similar (but not same road address) and completely different postcode.

We put this back in the post and it arrived back at our address four times even though we had written across it NOT AT....;

I email Royal Mail and said I would hold the mail here for them to collect - that was about 5 weeks ago.

Got an email saying that they had passed it to their business department.

Just now got an email from the business department saying that they could not deal with it as we were not registered as a residential address.

It is our home. We have to now register it as a residential address before they can look into it.

Really fed up of this now and so are our neighbours

- you only have to look out of the window after the post has been delivered

to find numerous people walking backwards and forwards delivering mail incorrectly delivered.

I must point out that it is not our regular postlady - she seems to be on the ball - it happens when she has her day off.

Write to the manager of the delivery office. Keep a copy, say that you are doing this, and state that if this continues you will write to the chief executive (Unilever House, London EC4).

There are Data Protection Issues, even if it's a genuine mistake, but as if you say it keeps happening, thats fairly serious, contact ICO.
