Now I know this is not right, having 2 files about the same debt, but am not sure which is better. Obviously the OC closed an account and sold it on and the correct procedure would be for the DCA to take over the OC's record keeping the same default date, but 'opening' a fresh file but this has not hapened and so over various CRA files, six files when I should have 3. As these accounts have gone their merry way through various DCAs the 'purpose' of the debts have all change from what they were originally so it is not easy to state that these are in fact the same accounts, as the amounts defaulted have also been changed along the way.

I have PPI Insurance showing as a Credit Card

On another CRA file it shows as a Loan

Its' original notation is for x no. of payments over Y no. of years. Hence, certainly not a C Card.

I have Loans that are now Credit Cards

and a Credit Card that was a loan? so is it any wonder that people are truely confused when these idiots don't even have the correct information for us to even identify our loans.

Anyway the original question is, supposing I were to report this and they decide to 'amend' the records would it be better to have 3 closed accounts and 3 in default, or have no closed account, and still 3 in default, if you see what I mean.

Sorry just getting bored as it is raining and I can't cut the grass!

Move all banking activity to another banking group if you have a dispute - your funds can be used to offset debts within the same group.

Be careful with Banking details (card/account numbers) as these can be used to take unauthorised payments.

In that case yours are definitely wrong. You need to get the Lowlife entry changed as they cannot put on a new (later) default date. The correct thing they must do is take over the original default from the OC and keep the original default date, just change the name of the 'owner' of the account. In my case the duplicated entries have the same default dates, so they will 'drop off' at the same time. Yours could be on your file for a year longer than permitted if you do not get it corrected.

Hi HS,

Is this Equifax and the wonderful new posting system which I have had explained as follows.

When a debt is sold or assigned the company takes over the total rights of the original creditor

and the term of the contract. So if your credit card debt from company A is sold to

Debt purchase company B Equifax then list on their files a CREDIT CARD FROM COMPANY B.

Trouble is they don't seem to be able to distinguish a credit card from a loan account.

Well at least you got a response from Equifax, I made a complaint on each one of my files because of that change in listing and the mistakes being made, that was October 2010, still waiting for their response, they confirmed receipt in November 2010 and said they had contacted each 'new Owner' and would let me know their responses, that will be none then!!

It took a lot of effort to get this explanation I personally

believe that this method of recording is misleading and best and out right fraud at worst.

Yep - the ICO recently forced Lowlife to do just that with one of mine.

Funny thing is, the whole entry has now disappeared. I suspect that as the new date leaves only a few months to go before the 6 years is up, they are busy flogging it off to some other outfit.
