My phone lasts less than a day with all options turned on (gps, wifi, bluetooth, full brightness) or about 3 days with the bare minimum running... As DX says 1st swap the battery and see if the issue really is with the battery.

Next step, if this proves the issue is with the battery, is to ask nicely in writing (go to your providers website and find a "contact us" link). State you have treid the battery in 2 phones, and that the issue definatly is the battery, and will they please replace the battery that has 1/3rd capacity. See how that goes.

If in doubt, contact a qualified insured legal professional (or my wife... she knows EVERYTHING)

Hi Westerndevon, Thanks for raising this with me. Can I ask if you've tried to suggestions put forward by the guys? If so, could you let me know if the battery life you experience improves and whether that which your wife experiences worsens? Best wishes, Lee Web Relations Team Vodafone UK

If the battery is less than 6 months old then yes entitled to a replacement/repair. If over 6 months then no, as batteries are classed as consumerables.

Manufacturers generally don't give more than 6 months warranty for batteries. A bit harsh when you're stuck in a long contract, but that's the way it is.

Also, as per previous suggestions, make sure you have all addition phone features deactivated when testing as they can gobble up your battery (i.e. switch off bluetooth, wifi, gps, etc.)

Hi there and thanks for the responses. Over the Easter weekend we did swap batteries and matched our settings so everything was the same and my phone did indeed last a lot longer than normal and out lasted hers by about 34 hrs so it looks like the problem does indeed lie with the battery and not the handset

Thanks for the update :)

If your phones are with Vodafone, go to this link here (the webteam will sort you in no time at all I'm sure!)

Any other supplier, go to their website and find a written address. Write, asking nicely but assertively for them to swap the battery. Tell them that you think that is the only fair solution, and failing that you would like a DEADLOCK letter to further this complaint.

Keep us informed.

I don't think it's established that westerndevon is even a Vodafone customer (unless you know something I don't Lee... which is obviously not hard to do :p).

westerndevon, It's very possible that whoever the supplier is, their is a good chance that this battery will be replaced without too much hastle. As the phones are relatively new this issue needs to be dealt with ASAP.

EDIT:- seems Lee does know something I don't :p

I have a reply....

Hi westerndevon

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

I am sorry to hear that your battery has started to deteriorate.

Unfortunately we don't have stock of the battery that you will need for Galaxy S. However, we can credit the cost of a new one to your account if you purchase it from a third party company. Although, as it will not be supplied by Vodafone we can't guarantee the quality.

The battery you will need is the Samsung Li-Ion 1500. Once it has been purchased we will need you to forward on a copy of the email receipt so that we can add the credit to your account.

Best wishes,
