The hob in my new build property has developed a fault. The cement around the hob plates (which actually holds it all together) has disintergrated, leaving holes around the sides of the hob plates. Considering that it is an electric hob this is very dangerous.

I have taken photos and emailed them to the manufacturer, who responded by saying that "the product is made of cast iron which will rust if they have not been maintained as per the instruction manual". The issue has nothing to do with rust on the iron hob plates, but the cement that is under and round the hob plates having corroded.

The hob is only 2 and a half years old. Do I have any rights?
