After 15 months of unemployment I have just started work full time today 21/3/11. Jobcentre have advised that I apply for WTC. I am single and have no children. My annual income will be £14k. I have decided to delay my claim until the new financial year starting 6th April 11 but I am hoping to get it back dated to 21/3/11. My earnings are as follows:-

2009/10 - £7900 (Part paye, self employment, income based JSA)

2010/11 - £3400 ( income based JSA estimated)

2011/12 - £14000 (paye employment estimated)

My question is will I be assessed on 2010/11 £3400 income, in which case I estimate a payment of approx £50 per week. However will this be classed as an overpayment and have to be paid back when I renew in April 2012 as my earning for 2011/12 is likely to take me over the £10k disregard.

I am new to this and don't really understand how WTC work. Thanks
