Hi, I hope someone can help me. Basically what has happened is I have made two payments to MeritForce, for a Simply Be account, using their account details they gave me, via the internet and only paid the second payment a week ago. I have an agreement with them to say I will pay them £10.00 each month which I have been doing since January.

Now what I don't understand is I got a letter in the post over the weekend from Cabot Financial saying that they recently bought the account that I held with Simply Be. I thought Meritforce had this account as they have all the details etc...

I'm now even more confused as it looks like MeritForce haven't received my payments, even though I have details on my bank account saying they went over. So who on earth is the account with and what do I do now?

I'm also in receipt of IB and DLA for severe Mental Health problems, and yes this did cause me to go a bit "bonkers" if you understand what I mean. I have read the Mental Health Guidelines and am even more confused. Do I send a letter off to Cabot explaining that I was under the understanding that MeritForce had this account and that I am in receipt of these benefits for Mental Health problems?

Oh I also got a copy of a letter from JDWilliams saying they had passed it to Cabot enclosed with the Cabot letter.

Help?

And as for the £10 a month payment, as you are on IB & DLA, £1 a month is the maximum you will be told to pay by a Judge, so don't pay anymore than that.

Unfortunately when these oxygen thieves get wind of any disability, and most certainly regarding mental health issues, it is a green light for them to exploit your illness or disability and they think that they can get away with increased levels of bullying, threats and intimidation!

They couldn't be more wrong, your the second person today that has mentioned mental health issues and the treatment they have received from these foolish children because of it.

And I will give you the same advice,

Complaints are a fore gone conclusion, most can be done on-line, those that can't can always be done by letter.

Here goes, first complaint to

The OFT&TS via http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/contact

Meritfarce complaint to the CSA http://www.csaconsumers-uk.com/page/i-have-a-complaint

However with the above, you fill out a complaint form, send it off to them, and they (CSA) in turn send it to their member, so be cautious what contact details you enter, esp regarding phone numbers.

Have you read up on MALG & the OFT's debt collection guidelines?

If they ring, either laugh at them and hang up, OR tell them "Everything In writing" then laugh, then hang up.

Send the letter PGH posted above. Send it 2nd class and obtain proof of posting, from the post office counter, start a diary of events, anything they send you, write down the date you received it and staple the envelope to their tame threatogramme.

DO NOT under ANY circumstances talk to them over the PHONE! This is how they will bully threaten and intimidate you.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!
