I have, for a long time been fed up with the junk put through my door by postmen on behalf of Royal Mail, I found out what to do to request they stop posting the junk through my door and this was to get a form emailed to me, print it off and then fill it in and send by post to an address for RM. This was done months and months ago.

In general it has worked except occasionally when a relief postman/woman is on duty and then they usually happily take the c*ap away - and then they don't deliver it to me when they are on my round again.

Last week I got a huge pile of junk (about 9 items) put through the door one day with my addressed mail and, as I was just about to go out the door I was able to catch up with the postman and asked him to take it back and not deliver it to me again. He refused to take it, said he couldn't understand why I wouldn't just throw it in the bin and why was I bothering him about it - that it was nothing to do with him!! I was so angry and I used the comments form on the RM website to complain about how they are sending me this stuff despite me following their procedure (which I think is deliberately made complicated) to stop it being delivered.

Yesterday I got the reply from them - a week after it was sent to them - and they were saying that I need to register with the Mail Preference Service and, for them to investigate further I need to provide them with the codes on the mail so they can track it back to the sender. Hmmm, shows they read the complaints and then completely ignore them and reply to customers about a completely unrelated matter.

I have filled in another of these comment forms including the reference number from the original form and, amongst other things, have asked for a different contact method so I don't have to raise a new comment form if I remain unhappy about the response from them. I have also had more junk put through the door on a couple of days this week - though I am waiting for their repsonse before I complain again.

I wonder if there is anything else I can do to stop them delivering this c*ap to me or any way they can be penalised for ignoring the original request? In an aside, I am already registered with MPS and so have already got that in place and it has reduced the amount of stuff that comes through.

I save it all up and once a week, pop it back in the post box in a brown envelope. Alternatively you could just scrawl return to sender on it and pop it back in the post :)

Hi Rebel11,

I did this last summer - it is the fact they are ignoring this and are still posting the c*ap through my letterbox many months later that I am objecting to and complaining about!!

Hi Surfer01 & CitizenB,

Thank you for your suggestions but, as I am registered with MPS, I no longer receive unsolicited mailings containing freepost envelopes. Also, if I were to send this junk on to other people when I am complaining about it being sent to me against my express wishes, it rather dilutes the complaint I have and makes me as bad as them in that respet.

What I want is for RM to take responsibility and acknowledge they are ignoring my express wishes by continuing to put the junk through my door. I am guessing that it is a matter that they would police themselves and would therefore deny it coming as I have complied with their process to stop it happening.
