When my son claimed jobseekers allowance, he loses the first 3 days of his claim as waiting days which are unpaid. He works as a temp and will soon enough have to sign off when/if he exceeds the 32 hours allowed in a fortnight.

What happens when he then reclaims, will he have to lose the first 3 days again?

Also, as the waiting days are unpaid, can he accept temp work on those days, and not declare the hours or wages?

No to the first question (there is no waiting period for a rapid reclaim)

Yes to the second question.

My advice is based on my opinion, my experience and my education. I do not profess to be an expert in any given field. If requested, I will provide a link where possible to relevant legislation or guidance, so that advice provided can be confirmed and I do encourage others to follow those links for their own peace of mind. Sometimes my advice is not what people necesserily want to hear, but I will advise on facts as I know them - although it may not be what a person wants to hear it helps to know where you stand. Advice on the internet should never be a substitute for advice from your own legal professional with full knowledge of your individual case.

If you work during the first 3 days of your JSA claim, then yes you do need to declare it. It would also make the issue of when your son stopped being in full time work less clear. This may cause his JSA claim to be either adjusted so it was claimed from the day after he worked, or may be delayed in being accepted because it was referred to a decision maker to decide how it should be processed.

Any work that you comnplete during your clasim to JSA should be reported.

Yes the first 3 days of a brand new claim are unpaid.

If he then signed off and made a reclaim (either rapid or fresh claim) within 26 weeks of the previous claim ending then he will not need to serve the waiting days again.
