I am on a fixed term contract which is due to end in March this year. I have been here for 2 years. I have been told I will be going through redeployment which takes approx 12 weeks so my final day is in May.

The organisation is currently going through redundancies so there aren't really the positions to be redeployed into. They have said if someone on a fixed term contract is within a staffing group where numbers are reduced then they cannot apply for a job role.

Does anyone know if this is correct or as I have been here 2 years that I am entitled to apply for jobs during a restructure.

You cannot be dismissed or made redundant solely on the grounds that you have a fixed term contract. So if you are prevented from applying for a job on those grounds alone this would probably be unfair. But there are exceptions, and it does depend on the eaxct reasons and justifications for excluding you - which we would need to know.

FT EE's are protected from discrimination purely on the basis if their FT status. But I am a little confused you say your FT contract, "...is due to end in March." yet your final day is May. - how exactly does this work. What have they said your status will be between March and May?
