Hi everyone

I'm based in Plymouth, where I rent a flat.

Early December last, I had to return, at short notice, to my native Yorkshire, to care for my father, who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. I'm staying at his house, as I'm caring for him full-time.

I've now submitted a claim for carers allowance, which has been accepted and backdated to early December.

My question - would I be able to put in a claim for housing benefit to assist me in paying the rent on my Plymouth address, as this is technically my normal residence, even though I'm presently residing at my fathers house?

I don't have time at the moment to return to Plymouth and move from the flat, plus I would then have to put my possessions into storage somewhere. I would like to retain the flat so I have somewhere to return to once I no longer have to care for my father.

Thanks in advice for any replies.
