Hi, I purchased a Nico leather corner group and armchair from DFS, I paid cash for it, I was told at purchase it was pocket sprung seating, after just 5 months of use, the chair, which I mostly sit upon ( I am not a big bloke and live alone), has become flat, offering little or no comfort, DFS say its normal settlement, I have had the manager out to inspect it and he says there is nothing they can do, the seat is so bad I am considering taking matters to a small claims court, but its going to cost £300 for an upholsterers report, does anyone have any ideas how I can get them to react more fairly with my problem.

Tell them exactly what what you want, etcetera, and explain that the £300 for the requisite report would have to be added to the claim they would have to pay if they lose.

Present this as if to do them the favour of offering the choice, to immediately satisfy your claim in order to do avoid the risk of losing, or if they fancy the chance to win, to tell you what exactly their defence is to be.

Ecomaster are able to do independant furniture reports for approx £35, most furniture companies use them, plus if the report comes back in your favour i.e manufacturing fault, you should request refund for cost of report and work will be completed free.

SOGA states burdon of proof lies with customer after 6 months so you do need a techs report, it also needs to be a qualitas report, so here are few companies
