Hi All

16 Jan, I booked a hotel on On the Beach for £1 per person and found I had made an error with the number of people. I rang up, waited forever (0871 number) and was told the booking had not been confirmed yet so I could re-book. I could have sworm I saw payments were due 35 days before arrival as it was hotel only. The next day I received 2 emails with booking confirmations and payments due 1 Feb. Called again, said I saw 35 days before, but this was disputed and asked for the earlier one to be cancelled, they said they would. Your supposed to be able to cancel online but the website kept saying error, we cannot give you details for cancellation at this time.

Anyway, I received a balance due email for both bookings again today and I have to say its the last straw and I dont want anything to do with these con artists. Reading the T&Cs it would appear that they are likely to try and take £150 per booking from my account if I dont pay the balances in full by Tuesday. Can I advise my bank not to authorise these payments, or should I just stop my card? I thought I would have to authorise this, but seeing other threads in relation to them, possibly not.

Any advice please?

You should go through your paperwork again to acertain where, if any, the problem is.

You should also take note of their terms and conditions especially if the booking has been confirmed:

" If we cannot debit the increased cost to cancel your order the booking may remain active and you will be liable for the full remaining balance."

I did try to cancel this before the booking was confirmed and believed this was done as that was what I was advised. I did nto expect to get a confirmation after the conversation, especially after paying 10p per minute for the call! Therefore this is a deliberate attempt to get additional money and one which OTB are seemingly known for.

Ok, get everything in order so you are ready for them should they decide to take this further.

List times and dates and everything you said to them and they said to you.

When you say you cancelled with your bank, is this a credit card or debit card and how have you 'cancelled' it?

Hi Conniff

Booked on my bank card and it has been cancelled. I am awaiting a new one to be issued, so that no payments can be taken. This was the advice I received from the bank when I contacted them. Is that correct?

Kind regards
