The Coalition Government has made firm our commitment to equality for disabled people.

We have been absolutely clear that the changes announced during the Spending Review are designed to support disabled people into work while providing unconditional support to disabled people who have the highest support needs.

We want to ensure that support is targeted at people who need it and that this support is sustainable and affordable long term. Work Choice is expected to support more disabled people into employment each year than any of its predecessor government programmes.

Below is a summary of the changes in the Spending Review that affect disabled people. We will continue to update the details here as policy

What they are saying may sound reasonable to a lot of people.

What they are doing (and will do) is to send people to unfair assessments and stop their money.

Benefits rules are complex, and although I do try to inform and support people, I may get it wrong because the rules apply to individual claimants and their particular circumstances.

Hit the disabled with ATOS and benefit stops no matter what! What they are proposing does nto seem much different to the present system except for the ATOS intervention and calling it a different name. I have no objection to a suitably qualified doctor at ATOS examining me. The problem is that ATOS only use a health professional and a software program to assess you and that is where the whole program comes crashing down. How can a health professional, i.e. a nurse and a software program over ride a specilist's or a doctor's diagnosis and report?

The difference to the system is that they are now saying that it is better for everyone to be in work of some kind.

They are saying that everyone will be supported but they are using Atos to simply stop our money.
