i've just come home from a long stay in a psychiatric unit, july to dec. whilst there my family received phone calls on a daily basis from fashion requesting to speak to me. eventually after virtually being accused of lying my sister told them where i was and to stop phoning. to which the reply was unless the received a letter direct from the hospital to prove this the calls would continue.

i refused to give permission to my family or ask for a letter myself, particular after the way my sister was spoken to. my mother on another occasion offered to make a payment on my behalf but i refused to let her do it on principal.

this is the only credit i have and i only owed just under 30 pound. its now over 120 pound with their charges.

1. how can i stop the phone calls as i'm not in a position to speak to them over the phone

2. is there anyway to get the charges lowered so as i'm not taking forever to pay this off (obviously not working at the moment).

thank you

Hi juggling

Welcome to CAG

To stop the phone calls, send the following letter, send it Recorded. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/content.php?493-Harassment-by-telephone-response-letter

Write to them asking them to write off the charges as you were not in a position to deal with the matter, see if you can get a letter from your doctor that you can send to them. They should deal with you in an fair and understanding way. Tell them you will refer the matter to the FOS if the charges aren't written off. Again send this Recorded.

Let us know how you get on or if you need further assistance.
