I contacted my gym to cancel my membership back in April. I had a 30 day notice account so was advsied to write in, my final payment would be taken 1st May and then I could cancel my direct debit.

I duly did as I was advsied and have since received letters from Harlands advising me I owe £237!! My membership was £25.99 a month and apparently, they didn't receive my letter until 2 weeks after I sent it (!) so I owe 1 final monthly payment plus a lot of fees amounting to over £211!!

I am getting tired of the harrassment from Harlands and have now received a letter telling me they will take me to court.

Can they really do this when it is all down to the gyms slow administrative procedures?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated as it all seems completely surreal and ludicrous!
