Hello all,

Are the utilities suppliers (E-on) and their in house debt collection enforcers (Utility Debt Services) subject to the

restraints of the Guidlines of the OFT and the CPUTR 2008 regs. in respect to the collection of

small outstanding debts and debt collection ?

They have decided to call in a debt in one go, even though it is being paid off by weekly instalments and

is "monetarily" up to date but on an occasion not paid on the precise day.

They have sent a "threatogramme" Headed "Intention of Court Action"

All comments / advice will be gratefully received. :-)

Can you give some more info on this.

Which utility company is it?

Have they previously agreed to a repayment plan ?

What is your financial position-are you on any benefits ?

The OFT final guidance of 2003 applies to collections of defaults etc for accounts regulated under the Consumer Credit Act..

However you should still have recourse under failure to uphold codes of practice/unfair business practices.

You should write to them

Westwood Way, Westwood Business Park, Coventry, CV4 8LG asking them why they feel it needed to take enforcement action as there is a repayment programme in place.

You won't have anything to worry about, if there is a payment plan in place then they won't even be able to get this in front of a solicitor let alone a Judge!

They are just being greedy and want to buy some mince pies for their Christmas party.

I'd make Ofgem aware as well as the OFT&TS via http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/contact

Hello all,

Thank you for being so quick to respond

.

E-on and their Collection People who are wholly owned by them is Utility Debt Services as I have stated I am up to date monetarily but on 2 occasions not paid on the

date. I have the feeling that they are flexing their puny/feeble minds and bodies in their endeavour to create ill gotten funds for themselves.

E-on are "not" my current :lol:suppliers and this is an old account from my previous address. for which I have already stated us up to date monetarily.I have an active on line acc with them and have had for several years.

I am not on any form of benefit at all.

I will post up the letter when I scan it in.

That is absolutely nothing to be worried about, it is a very immature attempt at sounding important, well above their station and completely irrelavent... you can safely ignore their computer generated template!

Your most welcome, it is laughable isn't it, these companies can't talk to people like human beings they have to resort to childish threats and intimidation, make me mad sometimes, so what it's only money, it's not like your life depends on it!

  • 2 weeks later...

Bazooka Boo, MARTIN3030,

Hello all just a little update from the mighty UDS/E-on.

After sending them the "appropriate" signed for recorded delivery letters re my above posts on the subject, they in their wisdom have chosen to ignore the letters

and the contents therein and send the following computer generated templated letter.

All comments gratefully received.

How irritating!

A classic example of their threatomatic churning out letters on it's normal threat cycle, someone has clearly failed to tell it to stop sending out it's deforestation.

Add it to the ignore pile, and you will have the evidence, if necessary, to show the DJ how this company fails on all levels to have any customer care.

OfGem might also be worth a call?
