I have got a letter from Vodafone saying that I owe them some amount and that they have sold the debt to Capquest which I don't acknowledge. The letter does not seem to be coming from Vodafone directly, but it has the address of Capquest on its envelope. When I contacted Capquest about this, they said they are allowed to send letters using Vodafone's letter head. Is this right? Isn't it illegal to do represent someone else without their permission? What do I do?

Hi enigmatic1979,

Thanks for raising your concerns over the correspondence you've received here.

Firstly, I can confirm that CapQuest is one the DCA's who we refer accounts to and so they will be contacting following a debt purchase.

However, it would seem that you have a dispute over whether the amount being asked for is owed or not and as such I'm happy to look into this for you.

To allow me to do this could you email the account details in question to me by following the instructions in our pinned thread here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?213340-Vodafone-Webteam-for-Customers-With-Problems?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. Could you update the thread with this so I can make sure it reaches us and I'll come back to you as soon as I can?

Kind regards,

Lee

Instead of trying to wheedle personal details out of an 'anonymous' CAGer, Lee Vodaphone, by posting enticements on this thread, perhaps you would command more respect if you answered the question put by enigmatic:

It's quite simple!

Of course it's up to enigmatic if he falls for your wily words but we've all heard the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.

With respect FG this has not been substantiated either way.

Its understandable that an allegation of this nature needs to be validated.

There will also be commercially sensitive info to which Lee may not be privvy to nor within his brief to respond to.

To be fair he has always been upfront in his dealings on the CAG, insofar as we have seen.

Lets leave him to continue to deal in the capacity he agreed to when he started.

Your comments are noted Martin. IMO acceptance of others' remarks depend on whether you think it appropriate or not for creditors & DCAs to have a voice on this forum but that is a discussion to be had elsewhere...

:-) Yes I agree.

When any Official Customer Service Reps are invited,or approach us to be given status to deal,We do ask that they comply with site rules, encourage updates, and keep dealings insofar as possible on the forum.

We monitor the progress and make sure that dealings and responses are in the interest of both the OP and those following.

But we do recognise that there will be things that cant always be answered nor addressed on a public forum.

One of my own cases in the past involved me dealing with 2 parties.

I identified a course and the problem was sorted-I got the result but had to forfeit any disclosure, since it had implications for the contractual aspects of the other two parties.

I got my result without court-and they had to admit defeat-but I looked upon it as a lesson learned for them-in which they would have had to think about best practice and compliance...next time around.

So whether or not the statements or allegations here are true-really is not important to be knowing-the thing is its been raised, and my guess is that the fact that it has should be ringing alarm bells.

Hi foolishgirl,

I'm always understanding of the views that forum's members have about companies having an presence on CAG and I would like to think that during my time here I've demonstrated that our intentions as outlined here have so far been delivered.

In an effort to further allay the concerns you've raised there is also a pinned thread here which the Site Team update once members who we've helped have updated their threads to confirm that their query has been resolved.

Unfortunately, I'm not really able to go into further details of some of our debt recovery processes but as you quite rightly point out it's now up to the OP as to whether or not they'd like further assistance with their query.

Kind regards,

Lee
