Hello all

This is my first post, hope you can help I was given this web site from a friend.

A frined of mine borrowed my car to go out for a meal,He parked in a car park (ALDI's) and was ther for 2 and a half hours between,19.00 and 21.30.During this time the car park was empty.

There are small sighns up all over the car park stated maximum stay one hour 20 mins and mentions fines.

I have been sent a letter for £70 or £40 if paid by the 16th of novemeber.

This puts me in a bad way as I did not commit the crime but at the same time I dont want to give details of my friend.

As it is a private firm can I simple write a letter stating that I want photographic evidence to proove I was not the driver and when It comes back as not being me refuse to pay or could this end up going to cought and getting nasty?

I await your reponses Tracie.

NOOOOO dont do anything just ignore them

You or anybody else has not a committed a crime. This is an alleged breach of contract. You were not driving, you never entered into a contract with anyone. You do not need to tell them who the driver was. Ignore everything you will get letters and then they will stop.

If you contact them they will think they have a live one, best to ignore.

Seriously just ignore it?Can they not get the police envolved I dont want court hearings or beighlifts at the door? Many thanks for replys all.

Police no way it is a civil matter.

Court hearing no one could say they will never take you to court. But if you look around this site and others I bet you do not see a Parkingeye court case.

Bailiffs can only be sent if they took you to court [they wont] they won [they wouldn't]and if you did then you would have to break the order of the court. This is civil court by the way not criminal. They may send you invoices threatening everything and anything. File them all under bin and ignore. For your peace of mind take an hour and look around.

My ticket/invoice from parkingeye was over 12 months ago sent letters for about 3 months then nothing.

This puts me in a bad way as I did not commit the crime

What crime - it is NOT a crime and all that has been done is break some ridicilous rules set up by Parking Eye to deliberately entrap the unwary

Their paperwork is nothing more than waste paper dressed up to look official and intimidating

Ignore is the best approach as any form of contact including appealing makes them think they may be able to [problem] you out of your money
