Hi all, you've got a great site :)

Recently, I've received a letter from HSBC informing me that an informal overdraft has been declined ( a direct debit had failed due to insufficient funds) and they're charging me £25 for the privilege.

How is £25 even remotely fair for a company to return a Direct Debit, a little shocking I'm sure you'll agree.

How can I dispute this? I've tried searching, but no joy.

What's the law on this, and I read somewhere that fees have to represent the amount spent in relation to the charge, and can't be profitable?

Thanks.

Hi, matty.

If it's your first charge give them a phone and ask them to refund it, if it's not your first charge you may struggle to get it back.

Claiming charges on Bank Accounts is very difficult now.

Regards.

Scott.

No worries, cheers :)

It's my first in about 2 years, but not first ever.
