(Firstly, just want to say you all do an amazing job on here, have just spent hours reading through various topics and now registered :) )

Anyway, we are looking to move house and decided to check our credit files before applying for a joint mortgage. On my boyfriend's file, it comes up with a loan from Welcome Finance from 2007 which has default next to it. It's for nearly £4000. He has rung them today and they've said that the account is still open and with charges it is now up to nearly £10000. The initial sum borrowed was around the £2500 mark. (Sorry, will have precise figures when he gets home!)

They said that it has been passed over to Global.

We have lived in this house for 2 years and have had no correspondence from either Welcome Finance or Global. Obviously we want to be able to get this item off his credit file but what's the best way to do that? Thank you very much for your time.

Hi

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
