My wife parked her car in a shopping centre, and her car was clamped by Newlyn, and she was told that your car has been caught in 5th avenue Newham,in 2009,we have changed our house but couldnt get address changed in time though we had redirect service through post office for three months,no letter came through, now suddenly this happened ,newlyn people said that Newham Council asked them to do so,and if we wont pay in rt now ,car will be towed and will be auctioned ,and you have to pay all the charges,si we had no choice and paid £600 ,straight away, and then my car was released.

I will call newham council, but if anyone can help me out how to proceed to get my money back.

ref number they have given starts XN,I think i need to know what offence I have done, when was it done ,do they have any picture to show me the offence.please guide me .

Newlyn-should i contact Newlyn as well~?

This sounds like a private co to me. I doubt if it has anything to do with the council. Were there any signs saying clamping is in operation?

Well perhaps the OP can clarify. The way I read it was the OP had been clamped for some infringement of using the car park! However, having read it again, that seems to make more sense.

Surely they would need permission to clamp on a private car park?

Hi

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
