Create an account with laithwaites.co.uk. Place your order - has to be more that £100. When you go through the delivery details you will see a box for a voucher code - enter DIRECT2 and press redeem, then enter DIRECT30 in the same box and press redeem again. You will get a £70 discount provided you have ordered over £100. Bargain!!!

 

I've just ordered 12 bottles of red and 12 of white and the total cost including £6.99 P&P came to less than £80 - and I haven't ordered the cheapest ones.

Hi sequenci, I'm not sure to be honest. I got a text from my niece on Saturday - she said she'd just tried it and it worked. I assumed it was some kind of a glitch but I signed up for an account tonight, went through the process, although I wasn't really expecting it to work, but it did. They've got wine priced as low as £5 per bottle, so in theory you could order 24 bottles of that, get £70 quid off and end up paying (with P&P), £57 for 24 bottles. It's definitely worth a try.

Fred when you say you ordered good stuff-how does it equate in relation to the stuff Tesco and Asda sell ?

Very often they are doing 3 for a tenner and I saw Tesco are always doing something for half price (reduced from £7.99 for example to 4 quid)

Cant say I am knowing much about wine generally but just curious.

I have no idea how true this is but it's never failed me.

 

Check out the dent in the bottom of the wine bottle - allegedly the deeper the dent the better the quality of wine.

 

We buy the tesco special offer stuff all the time, you just have to be a little bit selective.

I will let my Lord and Master know about this when he comes home. Asda have some good wine on at the moment 3 for £10, we have got some Riojah which should have been over £7 a bottle, but this offer even beats this.

 

My poor little dog at the vets for tests so I will wait and see how much it is going to cost before I order any wine.

I didn't necessarily buy good ones, just not the cheapest. To be honest, I know nothing at all about wine except that I've never drank a German one that I like - bloody awful stuff, gives me indigestion. The Tesco 3 for a tenner offer is something I was looking out for, but this came along first and it seemed like a good deal. It's too late now unfortunately.

My first comment is that the German stuff I love was too expensive, so went for the chardonnay! I am a heathen, I'll neck it out of a chipped mug (well, not really, lol)

 

I only bought the, rather delicious looking, rose as it brought me closer to the £100 threshold than anything else - such is my desire to not splash out and maximise the deal!

 

Have you had a dispatch email Fred? Mine is rather ominous in that it could just be one bottle of the chardonnay! I'm not fussed, suspect there will be more dispatch emails to follow. (Doesn' mention the x6 or x12... just has the name of the wine) Suspect it is 18 out of the 19 bottles *hic*

 

 

Thanks again - well chuffed. The timing couldn't be better - flatmates new super-dooper fridge freezer arrives on Thursday for the hallway... well, can't be not having all our beverages chilled, and the reviews of the chardonnay were such that I felt ordered to chill it.

The general consensus is that paying that bit more for a bottle of wine is worth it. If you buy a £3.99 bottle you probably pay about £2.50 in tax (I do not recall the exact figure - it's too painful!) say 75p profit to the retailer which leaves say 50p to the producer (which rather determines the quality).

 

If you pay £6 or £7 for a bottle the tax is exactly the same. The retailer's cut will be a bit more but a lot more goes to the producer so the increase in quality is much greater in proportion.

 

We have drunk Laithwaites wines for years and have been very impressed with the quality of them.

 

You do realise that they do the Sunday Times Wine club amongst others?

So the price is really reflective of the buying power-which then determines the shelf price right ?
