PLEASE HELP

recieved a letter back from red after sending a cca to them it said

HERES YOUR ACCOUNT SUMMARY

You recently requested a statement which breaks down the outstanding balance of the debt you have with vodafone. On the reverse of this letter you can see clearly all payments made together with a list of the outstanding invoices which result in the balance now due.

How you can clear this account

Now we have fulfiled your request we require payment of this outstanding balance . You can either pay the balance in full , or you can pay monthly by direct debit at an amount you can afford please complete the direct debit mandate overleaf and return to us within the next 10 days. Alternavely please call us and an account manager will be able to take full or part payment by debit or credit card. or set up a monthly payment plan using a variety of payment methods to suit you......

Next steps

As we have now provided the statement as requested we see no reason why you should not repay this balance . As soon as we have full payment, or when you start to repay the balance we will update the credit referance agencies accordingly (where appicable). Having an up to date credit file could help you obtain cheaper forms of credit in the future . If we do not receive payment from you our collection team will assess your account, your credit file and your financial commitments with a view to making recommendations to recover the outstanding balance .

Can you give some background info for this ?

How was the debt formed ?

When does it relate to ?

Have you tried to deal with Vodafone ?

Are they collecting on behalf of Vodafone ?

What is tha amount being chased ?

Will move your thread to Phone forums-maybe one of the Vodafone webteam reps will take a look, obviously no promises-much depends on the circumstances.

Hi there sorry some info on this post

First of all got a letter from red debt collections saying my account had been passed onto them owing £268.52 ........ from vodafone as i remember i cancelled my account with vodafone back in 2007 so i did nothing ......next i got a letter from red saying they were getting hamptons to use court action to recover the money i owed so then a few days later got letter from Hamptons legal saying to avoid legal action against you if i did not contact them within 10 days ......... i could pay half what they say i owed or £40.00 a month .....i yet again ignored it as the phone number was a 0845 so did not call them as i had read on here not to contact them ..........

A week later i get another letter from red debt collection saying they were going to send a baliff round to collect the owing money. that is when i had had enough and sent them a cca with a £1.00 postal order that was over a month ago . then today i get the letter from red what i first posted ....... so what should i do next please???????

Bailiffs can only act on a Court order.

I presume you mean debt collector.

I think the best thing is to get to the bottom of whether you DO owe anything, and if so establish a course of action from there.I dont think its a good idea at this stage to be asking you for too much info-it may be counterproductive.

I will give you the link;

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?213340-Vodafone-Webteam-for-Customers-With-Problems

Follow the instructions to get the ball rolling.

Debt collectors can only call at your home by arrangement and permission.

Hi smokeyxxx,

I can appreciate that this situation may be causing you some concern and frustration and I am keen to help you further with this.

As I will need to examine the account that you had previously with Vodafone and talk to you in more depth about the issue, could I please ask that you contact the Web Relations Team (That's us! :-)) on the link that MARTIN3030 kindly provided in his previous post?

If you have already emailed us, could you please let me know the email reference number that you received so that I can get the ball rolling as quickly as possible please?

Whilst I can't make any promises at this stage, I assure you that I will do everything that I can to help you further and ensure this debt is being handled correctly.

I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best,

Espi

Web Relations Team

Vodafone UK

Have you had a notice of assignment or is the DCA collecting on behalf of Vodaphone?

In any event, the CCA is not relevant.

Most likely if vodaphone are demanding money via a DCA they are claiming unlawful charges as part of the amount. Most likely they won't go to court because of that.

If you haven't paid anything since 2007, this will become SB next year.

I wonder why there is this sudden activity? Most likely vodaphone have registered a default with the CRAs but paying won't remove that.

I would want a detailed invoice showing how this alleged debt was arrived at before paying anything and then I would be paying the puppet master and not the muppets - if I agreed the amount outstanding and only then if they removed the default if I hadn't been aware of the charges before.
