Before you set up a payment plan, have you checked that they have the right to collect this debt?

Whats the debt for? i.e. Credit Card/Loan/Bank account?

As per usual advise, don't talk to them on the telephone and keep a written record of all communications.

NEVER telephone a DCA

If a DCA rings you, refuse to go through the security questions & hang up!

Is it for Speedloan or anything like that? Chantry are illiterate and only appear to be able to commumicate by phone, you will also have problems paying them as they do not accept Standing Orders.

More details required please.

Thanks Guys,

Its for cheques that I cashed with Aberale and Bond back in November of last year. I did 7 cheques at a charge of £13 per cheque so ended up getting £609. I wanted to roll over next month but didnt realise you had to write the cheques out again . I had no cheques left in my cheque book and the cheques bounced.

I have been paying them since November 09 and from a starting balance of £920, I have got this down to around £430 now. I missed last months pay of £50 and I am having problems paying this months, so I want to inform them of the situation.

I just know if I ring them up they will start giving me a hard time about legal action and breaking the plan again.

Any ideas how I should play this. To be fair I don't think I should have to pay the full amount anyway due to the excessive charges.

Ideas??

Cheers

W

Yes understood - just write to them, email and post, state what you will pay and when, don't offer more than you can afford. Don't speak to them on the phone say in writing only. This mob only appear to work for A&B and I am sure that you are grateful that you are paying them something.

Not sure of the legalities of cheque loans so cannot comment on that I am sure others can advise.

Work out a budget of what is affordable and put your own priorities first. State very clearly that you have worked out a budget and can afford ££££ only. You do not have to give them a financial breakdown or any other information.
