Can any one help?. I am in litigation with Lifestyle conservatories, due to their poor quality of workmanship. They changed the design without even asking us and started demanding payment even though they had not got the roof on! Has anyone else had problems with Lifestyle conservatories, Hailsham, East Sussex?

jepc welcome to The Consumer Action Group community.

You haven't received any replies to your problem yet so you might be better off posting your story again directly in the sub-forum which deals with your kind of situation. You will get lots of support there.

Also, spend some time looking round the forum. Once you understand the layout, you will be able to get best use from this Consumer Community. It is a big forumm and may take some time. But it will be worth doing.

Good luck.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi jepc,

I would contact your local Trading Standards Office as they would be aware about other people that have complained about Lifestyle.

  • 2 weeks later...

What ever you do , do not give them the final pament if they have not finished - you wont see them again!!!!

As Buzby says, staged payments are the norm, also check in your contract with them that your payments are at stage milestones (i.e. foundations, walls up, roof on, etc) and not time based (i.e. every week). Usually a retainer percentage is stated to be held back until defects complete (5-10% usually).

If you have no contract then see first line, dont give them anything until they turn up and rectify it to a satisfactory standard.
