Hello,

I've been looking through this forum for a while now and I'm still really confused as to what mode of action I should take first. :noidea:

I have a credit card with halifax on which I owe about £2650. I can only afford to pay £70 a month. The interest they charge is roughly £42 a month. So I'm not getting far with repaying them.

I'm not sure what steps to take in asking for

1. A refund on the interest and charges

2. A freeze on the interest they currently charge.

So do I send them a Sar, Iba or just a letter asking them to freeze the interest?

Please :help:. If someone could talk me through the steps, I would be eternally greatful

Oh, I've had the account for about 3 years now.

Hi financial

Have you got any Penalty Charges? or have you been mis - sold PPI? You can claim these back with contractual interest.

I haven't had any for nearly more than a year now. I've had a few before, but I'm not sure what the total would be.

O.K. to start off with, send them a SAR Request with a Postal Order for £10. They have 40 days to send you all the data they have on your account, that includes

statements. Send it Recorded. Once you get the statements use the spreadsheets and templates to work out the interest. It could amount to a fair amount, you can

claim 6 years plus. Also send them another letter asking them to freeze the interest, send it recorded, lets see what they say, you need to give them a reason.

Heres the SAR template :- http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/content.php?552-Data-Protection

Hopefully they will also send the CCA.

spreadsheets and templates can be found in the library.
