    • To me, it isn't just about social distancing and hygiene measures. I'm far from the first to say it but until there's a reliable track and trace system, I don't think this can be managed properly.   Children may not suffer as much as adults, although some do, they can be asymptomatic and pass on the virus to the rest of the family.   https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/lockdown-david-king-second-wave-18739973
    • When will most schools actually re-open in September ?   And when they open, will they be providing teaching over the number hours 9am to 3pm  ?   I am thinking of the school I attended, which was a large Victorian building, with many modern extensions.  The classrooms which could accommodate about 35 Children elbow to elbow, will only be able to accommodate 20 at the most with any reasonable distancing.   Or does the whole class  of say 35 stay in a bubble and the teachers move around to teach the different subjects ?    I can see many schools opening later in September, not for all pupils for all days and not doing the full hours.   This is going to be very difficult to manage for all those concerned, including parents looking to return to work.
    • Hi.   If you do a search of our forums you will find other people who've had trouble with Marquis. Sadly people don't always update their threads with the final result.   Scroll up this page to the red strip at the top, and type Marquis into the white search box on the right.   HB
    • I think independent assessments and quotations will be essential. Once again please monitor this thread for a for the reply later on or tomorrow
    • We'd love to return it but from everything I've read it would a long drawn out business so keeping it would probably be simpler.   I think we are going to give them a chance to sort the heating/hot water. We've got very squeaky brakes now which my local garage is going to look at a week on Monday. I'm saving all receipts etc. I'd also like to charge them for fuel used and my time doing what they should have done.   The time they take to get anything done is what is bothering me. If I choose to go somewhere else for a repair for anything would I be able to charge Marquis or do I have to continue using their warranty   I hadn't thought of getting an independent assessment, not sure how you go about it but I'll look into it. Thanks for the reply

    • Hi,
I was in Sainsbury’s today and did scan and shop.
I arrived in after a busy day at work and immediately got distracted by the clothes.

I put a few things in my trolley and then did a shop.
I paid and was about to get into my car when the security guard stopped me and asked me to come back in.

I did and they took me upstairs.
I was mortified and said I forgot to scan the clothes and a conditioner, 5 items.
I know its unacceptable but I was distracted and Initially hadn’t really planned to use scan and shop.

      No excuse.
I offered to pay for the goods but the manager said it was too late.
He looked at the CCTV and because I didn’t try to scan the items he was phoning the police.

The cost of the items was about £40.
I was crying at this point and told them I was a nurse, just coming from work and I could get struck off.

They rang the police anyway and they came and issued me with a community resolution notice, which goes off my record in a year.
I feel terrible. I have to declare this to my employer and NMC.

They kept me in a room on my own with 4 staff and have banned me from all stores.
The police said if I didn’t do the community order I would go to court and they would refer me to the PPS.

      I’m so stressed,
can u appeal this or should I just accept it?

      Thanks for reading

Dear all.

After 3 years since my first letter, I heard from the Financial Ombudsmen regarding the PPI claim that I made from Norton (loan with First Plus), they agreed with me that PPI was mis-sold and that I would hear from Norton within 3 months regarding my refund.

I got a letter from Norton today. They claim that the have contacted First Plus and that they were told I had cancelled my PPI in the first 30 days and a full refund applied to the loan account so no refund is due and that my file has been closed by them on this matter.

1. I have NEVER cancelled this insurance.

2. Surely if the insurance had been cancelled, regardless of by whom, the capital amount would have been reduced?

Here are some figures, I am hoping that someone familiar with working these things out can help me so that I can call First Plus and challenge them:

Amount of Credit: £66000

PPP Loan: 13153.80

Total: 79153.80

Monthly repayments:

Cash Loan: 598.44

PPP Loan: 119.27

Total: 717.71

Number of repayments: 300

APR: 10.4% (variable)

Interest Rate (variable): 9.97%

My current payments are: £762 per month (they have been as high as £814 a couple of years back)

My current balance (taken from my credit report) is: £76882.00

I have stepped through every payment made (also logged on my credit report) and at no point did the end figure represent any difference as should have surely been made had the PPI been paid back).

I have made exactly 48 payments (4 years).

Am I missing something really obvious or are they trying to con me into leaving this and just walking away?

If anyone at all can help me with some ammunition for my phone call, I would really appreciate it very much. If anyone can also see something that I am missing, I would equally appreciate it. If you could also let me know what I need to ask for as proof of what I am paying for (breakdown etc) that would also be great.

I am at my wits end. I can't go back and start all over again. I am reeling from the shock and feel that this is very much unjustified.

Many thanks to all of you.

J x

Jussieb,

What was the date of your first repayment?

Jussieb,

I have done some calculations for you on the attached spreadsheet.

The first page shows the interest charges and repayments on your PPI.

The second page shows the interest charges and repayments on your loan. If you add the totals on the first 2 pages together, it comes somewhere near what you state is your current outstanding balance. Thus confirming the PPI has not been refunded before.

The third page shows the PPI repayments you have made to date and the statutory 8 % interest to which you are entitled on each repayment to the date you are refunded the PPI. As we cannot know this date at the moment, I have used 31/10/10 for the purpose of this calculation.

Personally I would write back to them and enclose a copy of the spreadsheet I have enclosed. Ask them to provide a copy of the loan statement detailing the cancellation of your PPI within the 30 days.

Good luck

DJ

Thanks for the feedback Jussie,

Is a pleasure to be able to help others claim back the money they are due from these leeches.

Good luck
