I remember my dad leaving work and driving up there with a shovel and helping. He also said that when he was leaving there were 2 of the scruffiest youths he had ever seen hitch hiking; he gave then a lift and discovered that as soon as they had heard about the disaster they had gone there and just stayed digging until no more could be done.

If you drive past Aberfan you can see rows of white graves, horrible.
