I obtained a BT Vision box from my local Freecycle group but when I try to set it up I receive a CO3 error message. Is this because the box did not come direct from BT?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Your box is of absolutely no use - in much the same way a Sky + or Virgin box would be, as it needs to be connected to the network infrastructure and be explicitly enabled using its MAC address (or equipment ID). I'm assuming your not a BT Vision customer? In which case, even if you are connected to BT Broadband, it still will not work. Similarly, even if you were, BTV do not allow customers tro have more than one STB, so you'd still be stuffed.

Hi you have to have a BT Vision account some BT customer advisers can be a bit *** about you setting up a bt Vision account when you have not purchased the Vision box from BT. I just advised them that if they did not set up account then they can cancel my bt broadband and phone and lose the £90 a month I pay them.

But surely, having BT BB is oly part of the story? You STILL need to have a BT Vision Account, WITH BT BB in order to benefit from it. It seems a bit drastic to cut off your BB connection simply because they won't give you a service for free, when everyone else with it has to pay an additional charge?

Thanks for your comments. BT have agreed to set up the service as 'network only 'as I have BB and pay by DD. The service is due to start on Saturday..I will let you know how it works out.I should be able to use the box for freeview and to record programmes.

This means it is just a Freeview box? No BT Vision content?
