Hello all, im a complete newbie to the site as you can probably guess so my apologies if ive posted this in the wrong place.

What would be the best way to clear my debts? sure the obvious answer would be ''pay them'' but like many others we have got behind on payments ect and it has all stacked up BIG TIME. We were contacted by first step finance who promised to half our debts and even wipe a few of them. they spoke of looking through our letters from creditors and they said there is a list of 64 different things that if one was to appear in a letter then the debt would be instantly written off. This is as you can imagine, very confusing....or maybe im just a bit thick lol We are at the minute with a company called gregory pennington (debt management team) but they charge quite a bit for the service and the debts dont seem to be going down. Im wondering how companies such as first step finance actually get rid of the debt as ive heard theres nothing stopping us doing it ourselves.

thanks for your time. :)

quite correct do it yourself

how many of your debts have you got a cca for yet?

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
