Hi Everyone,

I recently had my ESA Tribunal on 30th September, and i was awarded my Appeal,

and they gave me the Award Certificate before i left.

I let the DWP know, and the Tribunal dept, and they said they need to calculate the

arrears, and they would let me know.

But it's been 3 weeks now ? does anyone know how long this takes ??

And how far back its backdated ?

Thanks :|

It can take up to six weeks but the general rule of thumb is to give them a ring to query it if you haven't hear within the first two. Sometimes there is a delay in DWP being informed by the tribunal of their decision.

It will be backdated to the date of the original decision when you were told you were not going to get ESA/were told you were only entitled to x amount.

Hello and congratulations from me too.

I don't remember the exact detail after I won my tribunal, but I do know it was slow and I had to ring the local benefits office a few times. My letters all came from Belfast and they were all identical, except for the dates and amounts. I had a few of them, because my appeal and tribunal took so long and generally they sent the standard letter saying they were paying from x date to y date, total £z. I seem to remember it was batches of 6 or 8 weeks at a time back then.

The only good thing was that by the time I got each letter, the money had actually arrived but I never really understood how they'd worked it out and they didn't reply to me asking for the information. I didn't have CAG then, wish I had.

My best, HB
