Hi I have just upgraded my laptop with a new hdd and windows 7 ultimate os. on booting up i get a message ...Realtek rtl8111b/8168b ethernet controller V1.60c.... PXE-E53 no boot file recieved....

i get that message whilst the ethernet(rj45) cable is plugged in.

when the cable is out i get this mesage ... PXE-E61 media test failure check cable.

system boots as normal after this. ethernet port is working fine.

Any help with resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi no expert but this sounds as though you may have boot on network set as first option on boot sequence of the machine.

Sounds about right to me. What's happened is to upgrade, you had to change the boot up options from loading striaght from the hard drive, to loading from CD/DVD rom 1st. So, now to solve it you need to change it back so the hard drive is the 1st in the boot order.

It will normally be f2 or del as soon as you press the power button and the 1st screen appears, then navigate the menu to find the boot order, and put the HDD as the 1st, then press f10 to save and exit
