On monday 11th October 2010 we put a £100 deposit down on a new car and handed in our trade in but said we would need time to sort out a personal loan to pay off the rest. We did not sign anything. 2 days later we decided not to go ahead with the new purchase, assuming we would loose our deposit but get our trade in back as they couldnt have possibly done anything with it yet. BUT the dealership has said they have already sold the trade in! Is this legal seeing as with havent signed anything? What can we do? We should have kept onto our trade in until we were ready to sign...feel so stoopid as we know its our fault.

I'm no expert on this but did you pass over your registration document to them?

Why did you leave your car with them?

Unfortunately i'm not an expert in any given field legally and my advice and that of the Consumer Action Group and the Bank Action Group is given without prejudice and without liability so please if in any doubt whatsoever seek help from an insured qualified professional. Contents of my posts are purely my own personal opinions and not condoned or endorsed in any way, shape or form by CAG. Thank you! :p
