Please can help, i am having problem with vanquis credit card and there Repayment Option Plan. I have tried to claim these back under PPI misspelling. But they have told me that it is not insurance and therefore doesn’t come under misspelling.

Can anyone tell if this true. Also what's the deal with trying to claim back the money? I have already written letter asking for SAR and got all the info. There have also sent me a recording of the conversation of me supposedly agreeing to this charge.

So I would like to know 1) if there ROP is actually PPI. 2) If not what kind of charge is this. 3) How can i get the money back 4) where do i stand legally

I would be very grateful for advice & guidance on this issue. Please can someone help.

Hello I am sorry to say that you would not get the charges back

They are very crafty are Vanquis bank becuae it turns out that the plan you have is actually ROP which stands for repayment option plan.

It is different from PPI, which meets monthly payments while ROP does not repay any capital or interest, it just freezes credit card debt.

ROP is not insurance, which means it is not regulated by the Financial Services Authority so you cannot complain to the ombudsman about the product.

However the ombudsman can look at the way ROP is sold

— perhaps the policy had been misrepresented or you were told you had to buy it.

Or that you didn't understand what this meant.

I have fallen foul of Vanquis Bank.

I thought I had taken out PPI nad was shocked to find that it is ROP.

I was rushed into hospital in December to have a mjor operation and found out that the £25.00 per month does not cover my paymets or interest.

Despite being told on the day I rang them the operator told me that there would be no more interest or charges applied

.and my account would be frozen whilst they waited for the proof.

But they haven't stopped the interest or late payment charges or over limit charges.

I am now £200 over my limit.

They wouldn't accept my sicknotes from the consultant or my Dr,

they have requested thet they have the information on Headed paper.

They are a nightmare company and I am sorry to say should be avoided like the plague. Hope this helps,
