I have been a customer with Barclaycard for some time now and have transferred balances to take advantage of a 6.9% APR.

However, in April, I did this again and as I had set a fixed monthly payment, the minimum payment wasn't met. When contacted by BC I paid immediatley and queried the status of the promo rate. They said it would remain unchanged. Job done and put at the back of my mind until August.

I checked Augusts statement to see that the APR was 19.9%. After an argument, the guy wouldn't reinstate the APR but did give me a 0% for 6 months.

Guess what? Next stament, 19.9%. 2 days later, I got a letter upping my credit limit :!:

Any advice on next steps?

Hi MM,

It's important that you set out your complaint in writing so you have a better chance of getting a proper response. Send to BC Cust'r Relations as per your statement.

Ask for an explanation of why the rate was increased and ask for it to be put back down to what was originally agreed.

I wonder if you lost the preferential rate because you didn't meet the min pay't requirement.

We could do with some help from you
