Coolio,

Because it was my intention to pay these off at the beginning of the year so I could help my partner get a mortgage but when I spoke with my Uncle who used to work in the mortgage advice centre for Halifax RBS he told me defaults, settled or not mark you down so I won't be offered a mortgage - just a polite no.

And that was got me thinking, where is my incentive to settle?

As responding to a letter to acknowledge a debt in order to ask the question "If I pay this, will you remove my record completely?" would reset the SB clock, what would be the point. I dare say I am not the first to think like this, though I don't feel good about it. My partner has finally got me onto an even keel and I want to make the best of life. I am regretful of my previous irresponsibility but back then I had a very carefree life.

Also, has anyone got any bad experiences about CallCredit, I have my Experian credit scores and records, every now and again I will snatch a look at my Equifax record which seems to have the same but I have heard some bad things about CallCredit...and is it true that the credit agencies 'sell' updated data to DCAs?

Call Credit are and always have

been slow to update records.

Some CRA's have tracing arms.

The information on your files when

updated of course will be seen by

anyone searching your files, the CRAs

do not notify creditors of any updated

information.

ALL default entries are removed after 6 years paid or not.

The CRAs are not permitted to keep data for longer than

what is considered reasonable, with credit files tis reasonable

time span is the six years.

The data is removed from individual files, haveing had problems

with my computer and lost data I asked 2 CRAs for archived date

for my records, they do not hold data after the six year ''life''.

I don't defend the the CRAs very often but they cannot

be held responsible for the actions of the DCAs they have

an assurance that the data supplied to them is up to date

and accurate and follows the terms of the DPA they have

no way of checking or authority to check data supplies.

Hi all,

I am looking for some help and advice over a default that has appeared on my experian file in August. I hadn't checked it for about 8 months and then today when I did I found an entry from Carphone Warehouse for a £534 default entered in July of this year but relating to an account in 2004. The default was dated from Feb 2007 but I have heard nothing from Carphone Warehouse since 2006 when I lived at a former address (according to the entry they have my current address now though)...

All this is new to me and I would welcome thoughts and suggestions pls.... Thx.

When was the last payment made or contact in writting

from you??

You need to no exactly when this was.

Also the default should be placed in a timely

manner ( within 6 months of the cause of action).

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
