Good evening all,

Firstly let me apologize if this is in the wrong place, i was recommended this site from a friend. My situation is as follows.

On the second of august i rang my bailiff, to pay the last payment on my account of 226 pounds. I gave the guy my bank details over the phone and he said it was accepted and my account was now closed. i was relieved until today, over 5 weeks later, when 226 pounds left my account. I am shocked by this as i was told it was payed on the day. Do i have any rights here? as in can they leave it this late to actually take payment even though i was told my account was settled? This also put me way over my overdraft. Thanks in advance for any advice or thoughts on what to do next.

I know this sounds like a daft question but have you checked to see if the payment on 2nd was taken

i don't understand this if there was no payment taken on the 2nd you would defiantly have had bailiffs at your door looking for payment if for no other reason than to try increase there fee

do you know if you paid the correct bailiff fees

Hello, thankyou for the quick reply, well i gave the baliff the card details on the phone and he said it was accepted and my account was cleared, then i rang the actual baliff group and they confirmed that my account was now fully paid and closed. But then now 5 weeks later the amount which i paid over the phone was taken. i have called my bank and they have told me that the payment was accepted on the 2nd, but not taken until now, which they themselves say may not be legally sound to do as they have waited a long time, now putting me over my overdraft, cheers

Hi

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
