I've just had to re-apply for ESA (after coming out of prison-for defending my family against a drunk(long story)), anyway moving on and to the point:- I have serious PTSD, diagnosed chronic asthmatic(forced to use a substance called de-greaser whilst inside, without face masks), have developed serious Carpel Tunnel Syndrome(CTS) whilst incarcerated(refused treatment and told "Get on with it") to such an extent I cannot grip or hold anything and have now been told I will need a new knee as soon as possible as an injury I incurred whilst in HM Forces is a lot worse than I intentionally realised and I now walk what little I can with a stick. What are the chances that the buggers at ATOS will try and take me off ESA given the weight of medical evidence I have with me? (note this is being typed by the girlfriend as the CTS is bloody dreadful). Thanks.

Hello there. If you can, have a read around the forum about how other people have dealt with Atos and the 'medical'.

Do you have anything in writing from your GP or preferably specialists about your various conditions? You need to amass whatever you have so you can send it to the DWP when the time comes. It's hard to say what view Atos will take, but if you do fail, then these documents will be useful for the tribunal people. You should also send copies of them when you fill in the forms for Atos/DWP.

Dear Honeybee I've just sent in so much information they'll be there for a month of Sundays!(Evidence from Combat Stress(Ex-Forces Mental Health), my GP,psychiatrist, specialist for the knee, specialist for the hands, its all there. Just going through internet about points for ESA-according to me I've got about 140! (and you need 15 to pass!). I get 15 for the knee so we'll see if they accept what i've sent them. I was just wondering whats the odds of being put in the support group before a medical? Thank you for your help though I appreciate it, take care.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your support group question. I was under the IB system so I don't have enough experience to know. I'm sure someone will be along with answers for you.

Welcome to the forum, btw, I should have said before.

Dear HoneyBee thank you for your response I too was on IB before I went to prison but now they have made me re-claim ESA. Out of interest is there anyone on CAG (moderator?) who could point me in the general direction of claiming against HMP for the asthma?(also have CTS-carpel tunnel syndrome and elbow damage from an assault whilst in custody too)
