Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone can help?

Briefly, I had to pay roughly £900 for HIP's package on my house when I was selling it last year (total rip off!!) Anyway I have paid the majority of the debt, still owe £277. They have sent me a letter demanding payment in full. Only problem being I am due to finish work, as my baby is due in 2 weeks, so money will be tight. Also my husband is unable to work from next week (self-employed), as my other child is needing a major operation and will be living 150 miles away in another hospital, and he will be staying with her.

I have phoned th office and tried to explain the situation. I have said that I am not refusing to pay the debt but, would like to pay it off in 4 instalements of £70 to make it more manageable. Every time I try and explain this some rude, jumped up person on the other end of the phone tells me that this is not possible and if I don't pay in full then they will sent someone to the house to collect the debt, and this will cost me a £100 charge!!

Does anyone have any advice or bright ideas for me, before I end up going into early labour?!!!

They cannot charge for sending somebody round 'to collect the debt on your doorstep'. In fact they cannot do this at all without a court order being in place and you breaching it.

You sound as though you come under the vulnerable category and therefore you should get Trading Standards and the local CAB involved, they can write letters to the company to inform them of YOUR rights in this matter.

Broadway Recoveries have just taken over 400 pounds from my bank account on pay day without my permission . It would seem they had retained my card details from a telephone payment made as part of an agreement to pay 50 pounds per month. I have telephoned the bank but they say there is nothing they can do . I am now unable to pay my bills or feed my family. Is there anything I can do?

Is this a Visa debit card?

There is a little know thing called "Visa debit charge back" you will be better going into the bank to explain this to them, as they will be unaware of it!

http://whatconsumer.co.uk/visa-debit-chargeback/

Whatever clown outfit bank this is, TELL them in no uncertain terms that this transaction using your card IS fraudulent and you DID not give them permission to withdraw this amount, if needs be report the theft and fraud to the Police, seriously!

I did this when a gym used my bank card details to withdraw funds from my account 18 months 'after' they had been given them!

Tell the bank to send you a new card, and start their complaints procedure if they do not take you seriously!

Report this Broadway shower to the OFT&TS via http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Dl1/Directories/UsefulContactsByCategory/Governmentcitizensandrightscontacts/DG_195948

The FOS http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm

Your MP http://www.writetothem.com/

The ICO http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/data_protection.aspx

And the MEDIA!!!http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/

If anyone else has given their credit/debit card details CANCEL them IMMEDIATELY! And if you have been defrauded like grimmer & others then start those complaints above, and demand your bank return YOUR money!

Anyone got an address or CCL No. for them? I can't find them anywhere??

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Thank you for your advice -when I can stop crying I will send the emails .I have tried emailing Broadway but funnily enough the email address on their letter doesn't exist! The card is a mastercard debit - do they have a similar system?

Because we have been in financial difficulties - hence needing to sell the house that we can't afford to live in - hence the now unnecessary HIP - hence the debt - you get the picture- our bank account is with Think Banking a subsiduary of RBS and we have absolutely no facility for an overdraft or credit- or credit rating for that matter. Just don't know what to do

Your prime concern is to get your bank to refund the money that has been stolen form your account, DO THAT FIRST, then these clowns can be dealt with later.

YOU are in control NOT anyone else, this is YOUR money, NOT theirs!
