I need some advice as the title suggests we have been told by our landlord (and its stated in our tenancy agreement) that we must have our gas, electric, landline and broadband with utility warehouse, is he legally allowed to tell us who has to supply these?as we are having some issues with them

NO,he cannot do that, you are free to find your own supplier of gas, electric, broadband and phone line...

Guidance on unfair terms in tenancy agreements (September 2005) - The Office of Fair Trading

Right click on this link http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/rep...rms/oft356.pdf and save as to your desktop, its 127 pages

On page 113

Its is Potentially unreasonable restriction

Unfair term

Way of revising term

[The tenant must not] change the utility supplier without the landlord's consent in writing.

You can change utility supplier

Dump utility warehouse and find your own, sounds like your LL on commission with UW

Please use the quote system, So everyone will know what your referring too, thank you ...

Don't forget when privatisation came to Gas,Electric,Water and Phone, any home owner or tenant can change suppiers to get the cheapest deals, privatisation was to benefit the consumer that's us and not to line landlords pockets with special deals with utility suppliers

Please use the quote system, So everyone will know what your referring too, thank you ...
