Since I was a teenager I've had a problem with my neck. In the front of my neck on the right hand side I quite often have a pulling sensation, like something is trapped. Every so often it 'pops' and feels like something's moved and is the worst pain I've ever had in my life. Breathing is very difficult, swallowing almost impossible due to pain, the longer it goes on for the more it hurts and the pain spreads through my face and my neck. Sometimes I can push it back with my hand other times I have to force myself to swallow and that clicks it back. The first time it happened I was stretching and yawning at the same time. My neck has never been the same since. My GP just keeps fobbing me off with pills (strong painkillers and muscle relaxents), sent me to an ENT years ago who stuck a camera down my throat and said there's nothing there. Well, I pretty much knew that anyway. It's my neck, not my throat that's the problem. I recently saw a neurologist after having another very bad episode (on the day of my best friends wedding to which I was bridesmaid at) who said that there is no neurological problem that he can find, but he believes it's the hyoid bone in my neck moving for some reason and he doesn't deal with that. He's suggested I go back to ENT. It's something that I seem to find very little information on, and although it's a long shot, and supposedly a rare problem, I thought I'd see if anyone on here has had any problems with their hyoid bone or knows someone who has.

A very fed up pup who wants a cure and not pills.

Gonna bump this, I have never heard of problems with a Hyoid bone. Hope ENT find something and offer a positive solution.
