Basically i had been with sky from 2003 to 2008. Upgraded to sky HD in 2006.

In March 2008 I had a replacement Sky HD Box installed, this was a reconditioned box as the period was over 1 year. Within a week the box damaged my tv. This was proven and Sky admitted liability in April 2006 for the repair of my TV.The cost of the TV repair was more than what they were willing to pay at the time.

After being fobbed off by them I cancelled my Contract. and my letters to them in the last 2 years went un answered.

In june this year i had a letter from SRJ debt collectors looking for the sum of £63. I contacted them and after conversations the amount got sent back to sky.

Last month I made a number of phone calls to sky departments chasing the replacement costs with phone calls costing in excess of £30 and getting promises of being called back which didnt happen.

After requesting a subject access request I finally got a phone call back.

Sky wiped off the £63 and offered me £850 for the replacement TV.

The cost of the tv when purchased in 2006 was £1685

Is this an acceptable offer as they are matching with the specification of a tv that four years old (of which it has not been usable for 2 years). Or should I be looking for compensation of price equivelent as this has taken 2 years to get resolved.

I would be gratefull for any advice please

I suppose you could say for 850.00 nowadays you could get a nice telly although I understand you didnt even get the enjoyment of the other one.

In case it helps I got a 50inch panasonic viera hd ready in sale from john lewis for 649.00, stunning bargain. Have a look online and see if can be happy with one for that ammount, if not ring them back and say so including model number and quote for them to check it out and see what happnes. They will argue 850.00 can buy a nice one today, pity they didnt help you out sooner isnt it xxxxBest wishes xxxxxxx
