Hello everyone. For the past 24 hours we've been rushed off our feet (feets?) sorting out all these little (and not so little problems).

 

A few people have asked if this is how the forums will stay, and the answer is pretty much yes. There will be lots of minor changes though - someone mentioned stickies not standing out from normal threads, and I completely agree. Quite a few people have mentioned font sizes too - hopefully they're ok now (I've increased them a little).

 

I'm aware of the navigation issues: jumping to last post, showing new posts, viewing user profiles, and these will be getting sorted out over the weekend. We're also getting reports of problems on hand-held devices - again we'll be sorting that out.

yes font sizes are better

glad to hear you will be able to sort some of the other issues - overall it isnt that different...just takes a bit of getting used to

Here are what I think most people have been concerned with :-

 

Need a "new posts" button

a "mark all forums read" button

Search facility to also include the old archive

Return of smileys to Quick Reply

If a smiley image is the last on a block of text, you cannot click or move the curser to the right of it.

No spellcheck in "edit post"

Maybe a diferent colour scheme or choice of colour scheme in preferences (notice Bo the English spelling of colour:p)

And just for Bo, return of the old smiley images

The site only seems to look ok on my monster 1920 x 1200 res home 24" pc monitor, most desktops use 1440 x 900, and laptops 1366 x 768

Oh, and please please please can we have the "edit" button back for more than a few minutes?

 

I know the human side of it is not your problem, my darling man, but for anyone reading this, next time, a prominent warning (like we used to!) about downtime and forthcoming changes would save people from fluttering hearts and panic attacks. It would be nicer for us, and it would save a lot of time in the long run, instead of threads all over the place, reporting the changes, people leaving, loss of confidence. And quite simply, just a bit more caring. ;-)

We can't but hopefully webby will think it important enough to change (as well as previous posts by everyone)

 

And searches for posts by a specific user comes up with "no results" - aaarrrggghhhhhh (

Hi all,

 

Just wanted to say thank you for having this forum in the first place. My family and I were in a horrid place a couple of years ago but have since managed to turn alot of stuff around. Taking on board each and every comment, just increases the challenge somewhat! And like Webby says, this is here to stay... and for that I will be truly grateful.
