Had a debt management plan for many years which ran successfully until my husband lost his job. I arranged monthly repayments with most of my creditors but Cabot never responded. A short time ago I received a Claim Form and Particulars of Claim. I wrote to Cabot offering a monthly amount (and enclosing the two previous letters which had gone unanswered) and asking them to stop the court action against me. Needless to say, they got a CCJ against me. On 22 July 2010 I received a letter from Morgans saying I had either a month to pay the full amount (£6,500...although it might as well be £65,000 for all the hope I have of being able to pay it) or to respond to them within 14 days with my repayment proposals. If I didn't they would take enforcement action. I wrote to them yesterday (7 days after the date of their letter) and this morning I got a notice saying the matter had been transferred to another court for enforcement!!! Basically I want to know what I do now? Am I allowed to write to the court enclosing Morgans' letter giving me 14 days to respond and my letter to them 7 days after? I naively assumed 14 days meant 14 days...not 7.
