Try not to worry too much. Easier said than done, but you and I both know stress is no good for the baby.

By calling as soon as you can tomorrow - first thing - and using some of the information I have given, you might get some grace. I sure hope so.

Please do come back and post. We will help you wherever we can.

Just got through and I think I messed it up, they asked me what I earned last yr I told them and they said ok anything els I can help u with I said yes I need to report a change in circumstances about childcare cost for last year the advisor then said we don't need to no that because I don't have an active claim and put the phone down, do I try them again should I make it easier and just say I have committed tax fraud and need to inform u, the stress is killing me I can't even get this wright

If I were you I would call them back (stay calm and positive), tell them you were in the middle of a conversation and got cut off. Repeat everything you said to them and if you get a similar sort of response, ask to be put through to a supervisor. I would only answer the questions they ask you except of course reporting a change in circumstances. Good luck.

The problem is that these departments are undermanned, they do something they should really not do, which is look for the quickest route rather then help folks deal with problems, they would be increasing their

workload.

So I should just call them back and say that I want to declare a change in circumstances for last year in regards to childcare payments which has resulted in an over payment can they help me sort it and arrange a payment plan to give the money back, do u think that sounds okay and to the point, or should I just tell them that I have used the childcare money on other bill and things and want to confess the over payment as fraudulent, sorry keep saying this just want to get this sorted I've got 4wks and 5 days and counting till my baby arrives and would like some kind of piece of mind that it's getting sorted what ever the outcome

This is good news - you might not now find yourself penalised for calling in your renewal a day late.

Yes - that sounds fine.

I am in the same position as you, only the amount I claimed was quite a bit more through the TC....I am fairly sure I have just been caught too although I have nothing in writing. Let me know how it goes with confessing because I want to do this too but terrified of prison. I checked out the sentencing guidelines today and want to avoid this at all costs!

Hi,I have been trying get thru but saying extremely busy and call back, feeling really anxious but need get it sorted, why do you think you have been caught if you have had nothing in writing? How much do you think you have been overpaid? I still can't believe been so stupid and am terrified of consequences but can't go on with the stress of 'they may catch me' so coming clean-know it be hard but rather that than be caught. Are you going to phone?

Im sorry to jump on your thread but im in the same boat & i think over a 2.5 yr period i have claimed around 18k. Im so im feeling so awful about this. I have not slept or eaten for days. I wish my body would just give up so i could get away from all this. I know i cant end it cos of my children. I work as a debt advisor & am so worried i will lose my job, house & partner. I do feel i can end all this now but im frighted about what will happen to my children.

I know what ive done is wrong & im not claiming as a single person now. It didnt start of intentional & my partner wasnt living with me but when he did move in i carried on claiming. I have sent of new claim for single person & am just waiting for them to do checks. As soon as they do a compliance check they will see what i have done. Im waiting to make full confession & pay back as much as i can. Im so worried about prison & losing my job. If i lose my job how will i repay them. Also what jobs are considered a role of trust & resonsibility. Is mine?

Hello Cats1980 and welcome. If you haven't already, I would suggest that you start your own thread on this. I'm sure Erika will reply to you when she can, but she has a job and so may not be along until this evening. It's not something I know about, sorry.

If you have time, read the forum because a lot of people have done similar things and told us how it went for them. It may not be as bad as you think.
