I've been contacted by a dca who inform me they have purchased an alleged credit card debt. no notice of assignment as yet. when, and if, the notice of assignment appears I will then deal with them. if I send the dca a Subject Access Request and specifically request they include the details of the assignment am I within my rights to know how much they paid for the alleged debt?

It will not disclose that info. at least I have never known a SAR to reveal that.

A company will normally but a whole portfolio of debt for a sum of money, for around 10% of its total value.

so they buy them en masse?

Yes.

and don't know what they might end up with?

Yes they know they'll end up with the dregs, the unenforceables, the untraceables the ones with dodgy paperwork or no paperwork at all but they don't give a monkeys because they're cheap and with an instant profit potential in the region of 1000% on paper at least, there's always going to be scope for a profit of sorts on the percentages.

As of 03/03/12 please do not under any circumstances wait for my further input or guidance on any current thread or defence of a court claim I might have been involved in on or through Cag.

I have a copy of the deed of assignment sent to me by Hillesden for my ex Citi Financial account The purchase figures appear there but were blacked out. However I did find out later when Citi filed its defence to my claim and tried to argue how much they had "lost" by assigning the defaulted account with a considerable "loss"-They gave the figures.
