Accidentally missed a payment on my credit card and ended up over my limit. Went online to make a payment only to be told by their systems I don't have access.

I don't receive paper statements so the only way I can view my account is online.

Rang Capital One only to be told that for me to get access, I would have to make a payment. The payment I missed plus charges they had added. At first I was polite and explained to them that I had no way of checking that the charges were fair and it was me that had caused my account to go overdrawn. They couldn't have cared less. They wanted me to simply make payment and if there was something iffy on my account then I'd have to sort it out after.

Me being me told them to get stuffed. Wrote them a letter explaining the issue. Got no response. Then the phone calls started. At least one a day. I seem to be popular on Sundays because they make the effort of ringing me a couple more times just for good measure.

I wrote to the FOS and am awaiting a response. I've just thrown a letter together advising them that I only wish to deal with them by letter and have taken to letting my 5 year old talk to them when they ring. They refuse to discuss the issue. Refuse to see the stupidity in their systems and I'm now upto about £150 in charges.

Anyone got any other advice on how to deal with these imbeciles? I have no problem paying the money that I owe. This was one simple act of forgetting to make a payment and has escalated to 4 months worth of charges and Capital One being completely ignorant to the flaws in their system.

Hello and Welcome,

Claim back the charges, you'll need to sent them a prelim letter, giving them 14 days to comply then a Letter Before Action giving them another 14.

They usually offer something after this, but almost every time they receive court papers they pay out, charges and Interest.

Regards.

Scott.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)
