Hi im new here so please bear with me. Im hoping someone can help! Apologies if this is the wrong forum!

I bought a fridge about 11.5 months ago. A few months ago it started to play up. The place i bought the fridge from retail in white goods and other items which have cosmetic damage but otherwise the items are ok. So the fridge ran ok until it stopped cooling. The shop kindly exchanged it for a new fridge for i paid an additional £80 for. They gave me a new receipt for this which referred to the old receipt.

Now i have just been informed that the new fridge will only carry a warranty for three months from the shop.

My question is:

Would this not class a new purchase and hence 12 months be applicable.?

Over to you folks...

i wouldn't worry SOGA will cover for atleast 3yrs on a fridge.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi,

A warranty is given in addition to your statutory rights. Under the Sale of Goods Act goods have to last a reasonable time. What "reasonable" means is up to a judge.

What I'm trying to say is even though they have only given you 3 months warranty, you are still covered by SoGA

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor

You should speak to them and inform them that they have a duty under SOGA.However,in many cases its better to put this in writing from the outset, sending recorded delivery and keeping a copy.

Give them 14 days to respond.Alternatively you can hand deliver it in person and get a receipt for it.

It was originally paid by cash i think.Sorry cant remember. But the faulty fridge and upgrade was paid by card!

The company was Appliance city in Birmingham.

So what should be my next course of action?

This is what their website says;

Appliance City Ltd is a family run business and has been trading since 2000.

Based in central Birmingham, we specialise in selling

Manufacturer's Graded Appliances*.

The goods we sell are usually slight seconds or marked, but all are covered with a 12 months guarantee.

Theres no problem at the moment. Everything is fine. I just wanted to know that since i replaced the old faulty fridge with another fridge of more value and which i paid the difference for...would it class as a seperate transaction and hence quality for the 12 month warrenty period?

if that makes sense :)
