Hi all. I'm sure I can get some good advice here.

I hired a van, and paid for the rental using my debit card. The deposit for the van was also taken using my debit card, with the assistant explaining that the money wouldn't be taken from my account, but rather, frozen, with no further explanation given.

On returning the van today, I was told that it would take 5 working days to release the frozen funds. Had this been explained at the time of the transaction for the deposit (yes, I know I should have asked at that point, but surely it's not unreasonable to expect it to be explained anyway) I would have given cash for the deposit, so that the funds would be released back to me immediately on returning the van.

Is there any way I can get to these funds any quicker, as this has caused a bit of a cashflow problem. Does the fact that the delay in releasing the funds wasn't made clear at the time of the transaction give me any ammunition? If so, how do I go about getting things speeded up?

Thanks in advance
