From 15th August, the DVLA will be issuing new RED certificates for all new and re-registered vehicle details. Including new anti-fraud features, there's no change to the certificate code (V5D) despite the major redesign.

No - the info didn't come from them, but if you do a search for DVLA and new V5C that'll pull it up I'm sure.

Incidentally, the V5C was introduced originally on 1st July 1994 - Previously being called the V5 prior to this.
